Establishing Shots: Epoh (… appears from among the shadows)

Always life had felt like some vast alien conundrum filled to the rim with uncertainty and hesitation and even at a young age Epoh had made the conscious decision to become an undertaker. He did not know where the idea came from, it was there and he did not question it; back in his school days when the others had been interested in sex he had been interested in anatomical textbooks and embalming techniques; consequently he had never been interested in love, marriage and family … his only companion was Ralph (pronounced as reif), a crow he once had found injured on the road circling the graveyard; he had taken him home, had looked after him and for some enigmatic reason the animal had always stayed by his side. The crow reminded him of his own self … usually they were such a murder … yet Ralph … he was just like he was himself (enigmatic?) alone yet without ever feeling as such; alone, yet surrounded by eternity. Often people made the mistake of thought that he was a deeply religious person, but he most definitely was not. Others thought the embalming business was in honor of the Egyptian metaphysics and cosmology … in truth however, it was just that he felt comfortable among the many dead, it offered him a certain feeling of relaxation (which proved Epicurus wrong (since for always he was were death is). Life was a frightening business and here at the outskirts of it all he could come to terms with it all!
